Website Promotion & Online Marketing
This topic will be debated for as long as there is a world shared visual network of documents. And the worldwide web may not be the only one we come to know in the future. But for as long as there is such a thing, people, especially businesses, will want to direct eyes onto their pages.
Notice though, I am not talking about traffic. Anyone can get traffic. Pay someone a couple hundred dollars and he will send you 5,000 visitors... and they may all be bots intended just to fool you and your stats. No, you can't just pay for people to show up at your door, you have to coax them there, throw a party. But what happens if they arrive and they find a boring party? They go to another party. That is human nature, and THAT, my friend, are the fickle people you have to draw in and capture their attention with something good... something original.
Part of the reason that it has to be original content is that the search engines will pick-up on the fact that content has been copied. They give bonuses for accurate and original content that hasn't been lifted from someplace else, or even snippets from a dozen other places. Because the search engines cater to people. And because they are your ultimate prize, you cannot think like others and just promote the heck out of a boring site, your site needs to make a statement. Throw the party!
Surely, you use the website to promote your brand and gain business. But before you promote the website it has to offer its visitors an appealing design wrapped-up in a your brand's message, complete with a call-to-action to use your products/services. Otherwise, it will miss the mark and your visitors will get bored and go elsewhere.
Thinking creatively is key. Having a sense of humor is a great plus.
